Paul Archer CV

Paul is an international speaker and training consultant. He specialises in communication whether you are selling for a living, managing for a living or plain simply just dealing with people.

His topic Rapport Selling has been delivered to hundreds of salespeople over the years and has re-ignited people’s desire to communicate to a higher plateau

He began his career in the financial services industry in 1981 and was soon promoted to run a building society branch of his own in North London. It was there he was introduced to a Magnum. Not an ice cream but a gleaming shotgun used to rob him whilst picking up money from the bank.

Looking for safety Paul got into sales and enjoyed huge success by focussing on what he did best – getting on with people and getting them to like him. Building trust with the customer seemed so obvious to Paul and throughout the 1990’s he began to learn how to teach other people how to gain trust with anyone you meet. Graduating as a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Paul discovered many new tools to communicate with people and began his quest to share his ideas with people.

Since 2000, Paul has worked with a wide variety of clients as an independent training consultant. Working with the likes of Microsoft, Scottish Provident, Siemens, Simplyhealth, Kraft Foods, Legal and General helping their sales, sales managers and customer service people improve their skills. Paul has travelled across Europe and the Middle East in his speaking engagements.

Paul is a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), a qualified business coach, author and a member of the Professional Speakers Association. Prior to the speaking and training profession. Additionally he is qualified to support clients with the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) and uses this wisely to bring excellent result in his trainings.

Personal CV

Paul is 47 and lives on a hill in Gloucestershire where he can escape from it all but still be 10 minutes drive to the M5 motorway and 45 minutes from Birmingham International Airport.  He shares his life with wife, Claire, and three children. Lewis (15), Euan (13) and Bethan (9).

His interests outside of work are Rugby Union coaching at a mini level, Rugby Refereeing, digital photography, building wood sheds and cross country running to keep fit.

  • June 2000 to date - Managing Director - Archer Training Ltd
  • 1996 to 2000 - Senior IFA Training Consultant - Zurich IFA Group (previously Eagle Star). Sales of profitability consulting to IFAs. Consulting IFAs in their business needs resulting in sales and management skills training throughout the UK. Resigned to set up as Freelance Training Consultant.
  • 1991 - 1996 - Training Manager and Sales Coach - Black Horse Agencies. Managing a team of four trainers providing sales and management training to 180 financial advisers and managers based within the estate agency network.
  • 1985 - 1991 - Financial Adviser - Prudential and Prudential Property Services. Providing financial advice and selling complete range of Prudential products to clients of the estate agency.
  • 1982 - 1985 - Branch Manager - Leeds Building Society and Anglia Building Society. Managing a team of 11 staff at central London offices providing a full service to customers of building society.
