The Online Workshop

You’re interested in the burgeoning later life lending market, getting some leads and enquiries but realise you need to pass the relevant exam first.

You’re very busy and would prefer to attend a one day workshop in person, to equip yourself to take the exam.

Paul runs a highly successful one day programme designed to do just that. So long as you remember much from your CeMAP 2 or CF6 exams, you’ll learn the parts of the syllabus that are fairly new or you’ve not touched before, thus preparing you to take the exam the following week.

Interactive, pacey and non-stop plus you’ll hear experiences from the other brokers and expert guidance from Paul.

How it Works Online

Paul runs lots of online workshops from his purpose built Tivoli Studios in Cheltenham. A maximum of 10 people can make it on the workshop and they must be equipped with a PC or laptop that has a webcam and microphone either built in or attached. You need to be able to download a little bit of software for Zoom to operate but this is free.

Paul facilitates it all from his studios – the software is really easy.

You’ll be talking to each other, asking questions, watching Paul present and enjoying group exercises and discussions.

Format of the Day

The day is split into five modules and run in 45 minute bursts divided by 10 to 15 minute breaks (online learning requires more breaks)

• 9.15am – set up software and equipment – test phase, if wanted
• 9.30am – Module One - Introductions and overview of the exam, do’s and don’ts to prepare. Module Two – Legal and regulatory requirements of Equity Release advising.
• 10.30am – Module Two Continued
• 11.30am – Module Three – Equity Release Products – dissected in detail
• 12.30am – Lunch
• 1.30pm – Module Three Continued
• 2.30pm – Module Four - Later Life Taxation, State Benefits and Legal aspects in the Later Life Market Case Study
• 3.30pm – Module Five - Case Study Practice and Personal Action Plans
• 4.15pm - Close

Your Tutor

• Paul's credentials:

  • Began in the mortgage sector in 1983 - 40 years' experience. Mortgage Adviser, Financial Adviser, Manager, Consultant, Trainer and Coach.
  • CeMAP qualified, Level 4 IFA qualified, equity release (ER1), supervisory qualified.
  • Author of a myriad of technical texts spanning all areas for both the CII and the LIBF.
  • All team are also fully qualified and experienced.
  • Began teaching J07 in 1998, when it started, trained thousands of students.
  • Founder and Managing Director of Archer Training Ltd in 2001
  • Working with dozens of banks, lenders, brokers and insurers in the UK and the world.

Is it intended for people to be able to pass the exam after the course?

That's the intention, but it all depends on how much you have kept from CeMAP and your general knowledge. We've had people (existing mortgage brokers) who took the exam that night and passed!

Some like to do some specimen questions and tests. Some like to rustle through our Revision Guide for a day or so. But they all take it soon after and pass. It does work.
